Just less than a year after we first saw him on Philippine television in his blind audition for The Voice Kids, Darren Espanto is now set to conquer one of the biggest concert venues in the country, Mall of Asia Arena. The said arena has been a favorite concert venue for big names in the local and international music industry. Artists who have had successful concerts there include Sarah Geronimo, Regine Velasquez, Lady Gaga, Rihanna, Bruno Mars, Taylor Swift and Ed Sheeran. The total performer, who just turned 14, will be the youngest artist to hold a solo concert in MOA Arena. For a newcomer, this sure is a major career leap for the young singing sensation. Some people may be thinking that a concert as big as this is too early for him. Is he ready to conquer such a big venue? Let’s find out…
Before Darren joined The Voice Kids, he was already making a name for himself in Canada. He was the grand champion of Pinoy Singing Sensation and a finalist of the Canadian reality show, The Next Star. He has also performed as front acts for Filipino celebrities such as Bamboo, Aegis, and Vice Ganda on their shows in Canada. These experiences helped Darren build his confidence and hone his talent. At the age of 12, Darren had his first solo concert in his hometown, Calgary. The event was a success, tickets were sold out and this proved to be the first of many more concerts for the singing prodigy.
Armed with the desire to become a successful singer, Darren flew all the way from Canada to the Philippines to chase his dreams. Darren really rocked the world of many music enthusiasts when he joined The Voice Kids PH. With his amazing voice, dance craze, and great character, the DARRENatics, his fan base, was born! He gave his very best in each performance and his fan base continued to grow over time. Who would have thought that a thirteen-year old kid could get many avid fans of all ages and genders? Though he did not win the title, he continued to pursue his dream and the DARRENatics continued to show their overflowing support and unconditional love for him.
Darren’s journey to stardom has definitely gone a long way. He is now an exclusive recording artist of the world’s biggest record company, MCA (Universal Music Group), the same company that houses the biggest acts around the world such as Mariah Carey, Maroon 5, Madonna, Taylor Swift, Sam Smith and many more. He has released albums with the other The Voice Kids Top 6 Finalists and various artists. His solo debut album has been a certified gold. His songs and music videos have been topping several music charts including iTunes PH and MYX. Further, he has received various awards from different prestigious organizations. With his remarkable contributions and achievements in the music industry, this kid is indeed phenomenal!
Aside from his sold out albums and mall shows, most of his concerts here and abroad have been sold out as well. He also became a featured artist of several concerts including Jed Madela All Requests 2 and Lani Misalucha’s Philippine tour. Together with the rest of the Voice Kids finalists, Darren also rocked PICC and Cebu during the Voice Kids All in Concert. They also had another successful concert in Singapore together with Mitoy Yonting and Bamboo. Darren also had an Australian concert tour with fellow the Voice Kid Champion Lyca where they performed in Melboune, Brisbane, Adelaide, and Sydney, Australia. But his outstanding achievements have not ended here as this talented 13-year old boy has yet a long way to show the world what he’s got as a solo artist.
In October 4, 2014, Darren had a blast with his first The Total Performance Concert held at the Music Museum. Several days after, he rocked the FSUU Gymnasium in Butuan with his solo concert still in October 2014. In November, Darren had his homecoming concert at the Grey Eagle Casino Resort & Casino in Calgary, Canada. Just a day after, he had a Thank You Canada concert at the Mirage Banquet Hall in Edmonton, Canada.
With Darren’s exceptional talents, different people from abroad and nearby provinces gathered in the Music Museum and witnessed the successful repeat of his The Total Performance Concert on December 19, 2014. In line with the holiday season, Darren rocked the Redlands in California, USA on his another successful concert on December 28, 2014.
In January 2015, The Voice of Darren Espanto was definitely heard at the Toronto Pavilion for another solo concert January 3, 2015. The next day, Darren performed live in Ottawa, Canada on his solo concert at the Bronson Centre, Inc. Moreover, On January 23, Darren has successfully held the third repeat of his The Total Performance Concert at the Albay Astrodome. He also had a homecoming concert in his parent’s hometown, Nueva Vizcaya on April 13 and Isabela on April 18.
Darren continues to be one of the most in-demand artists as several concerts are lined up for this phenomenal total performer. He has concerts scheduled this year in Singapore, Toronto, Saskatoon, Calgary, and Hawaii. But before these shows abroad, DARRENatics are all excited to be part of D’ Birthday Concert of the year to be held in Mall of Asia Arena on May 29, 2015. This will be Darren’s biggest solo concert to date.
The road to MOA Arena was not all smooth and easy for Darren. All the success that he has now is a result of his hard work, determination, resilience, and passion for music. Young as he is, he has already proven so much to everyone. Yes! Darren Espanto is ready to conquer MOA Arena!
